JOB SUMMARY

As a critical component of the socio-economic health of the City, Housing Services is responsible for effectively influencing, advocating and implementing a housing system that meets the needs of the citizens of Ottawa; negotiating with provincial and federal representatives for a systemic and fiscal framework that will achieve Council’s housing vision; and identifying, developing and maintaining strategic alliances, coalitions, networks, business and community partnerships to respond to the City’s housing requirements. You are responsible for providing clerical, financial and administrative support to a multi-disciplinary team. You assist in facilitating business processes, including processing payments, maintaining databases of information, monitoring procedures, tracking and verifying data and reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 12 Minimum of 5 years of experience in clerical, financial, administrative support

KNOWLEDGE

- Social housing programs and issues
- Social housing reporting and monitoring practices
- General business and administrative processes and procedures
- Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
- City of Ottawa computer applications, including SAP and records management systems
- Tracking and follow-up tools
- Financial reporting practices

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- Language Requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
