About Hammersmith
Hammersmith is a commercial and industrial construction management firm based in Mississauga. We deliver construction management and design-build projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada.
We are a hands-on and collaborative team that values strong relationships, practical problem-solving and taking ownership of our work. Our Project Managers work closely with clients, consultants, site teams and trade partners to deliver successful projects from preconstruction through closeout.
The Role
Hammersmith is seeking an experienced Project Manager capable of independently managing small to mid-sized commercial construction projects and defined scopes of larger, more complex projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, procurement, documentation, client communication and trade coordination. This is a hands-on project delivery role suited to someone who is organized, accountable and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a lean construction environment.
The Project Manager will work closely with Hammersmith’s Site Managers and leadership team, escalating risks early and helping keep projects moving without compromising safety, quality or the client relationship.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned projects from turnover and preconstruction through construction, closeout and warranty.
- Develop, maintain and regularly update project budgets, cost forecasts and construction schedules.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts and scopes of work to identify risks, gaps and coordination requirements.
- Prepare trade scopes, obtain and evaluate quotations, make recommendations and assist with subcontract awards.
- Coordinate project activities with clients, consultants, Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal team members.
- Lead regular project meetings and issue clear meeting minutes, action items and follow-up.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, site instructions, contemplated changes and change orders.
- Review trade invoices, progress billings,
commitments and costs against the approved project budget.
- Prepare and support monthly client billings, cost reports and project forecasts.
- Track long-lead items, procurement requirements and outstanding decisions that may affect the schedule.
- Work with the Site Manager to resolve constructability, sequencing, access and coordination issues.
- Monitor project progress and promptly identify schedule, cost, quality or contractual risks.
- Maintain accurate and organized project records using Hammersmith’s project management systems.
- Support permitting, inspections, testing and consultant coordination as required.
- Ensure deficiencies, closeout documentation, warranties, as-built drawings and operation manuals are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with clients and project partners.
- Support Hammersmith’s estimating and preconstruction teams with project handovers, constructability reviews and pricing where required.
- Follow Hammersmith’s health and safety, quality-control and project-management procedures.

progress billing and construction lien requirements.
