Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, the Project Manager is responsible for leading a portfolio of operational and strategic initiatives, with a primary focus on capital equipment procurement and installation.

The role is accountable for all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation through to close, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet defined scope and quality requirements. Working in close collaboration with clinical leaders, the Facilities Project Management Office (FPMO), Medical Engineering, and other key stakeholders, the Project Manager ensures alignment of technical, infrastructure, clinical, and operational requirements to support successful implementation.

The Project

Manager applies PMP methodologies and established project management tools to drive execution, mitigate risks, and deliver outcomes that align with the Hospital's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.

Project Management

Here's What You'll Get to Do Lead the planning and execution of capital projects, with a strong focus on capital equipment procurement, installation, and clinical and operational readiness, in close partnership with the FPMO and other key stakeholders.

Apply effective facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills to work with project sponsors, clinical leaders, FPMO, and Medical Engineering to define and prioritize project scope, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Collaborate with project sponsors, clinical leaders, FPMO, and Medical Engineering to ensure technical requirements (e.g., equipment specifications, site readiness, infrastructure needs, organizational standards), risks, and constraints are clearly understood and incorporated into the project plan and design.

Coordinate the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including requirements definition, vendor engagement and evaluations, contract coordination, and alignment with organizational procurement policies and processes.

Develop and implement change management and clinical and operational readiness strategies, ensuring all stakeholders (including clinical teams, medical physicists, and PACS)



are prepared for equipment installation and go-live.

Facilitate regular project and working group meetings with key stakeholders (including FPMO, Medical Engineering, vendors, and internal partners) to monitor progress against milestones, budgets, and deliverables.

Assess environmental and operational factors that may impact delivery, including site readiness, construction timelines, infrastructure limitations, funding, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate and communicate with third-party providers (e.g., vendors, consultants, technical experts) to support successful procurement, design, and installation of equipment.

Maintain and track project budgets, including capital equipment costs and associated infrastructure or renovation expenses, where needed.

Partner with Directors, Managers, FPMO, Medical Engineering, and Legal to support contract development, negotiation, and approvals related to capital projects and equipment procurement.

Deliver project status reporting, proactively escalate and mitigate risks to ensure timely resolution, and provide appropriate recommendations and escalation support to maintain timelines and budget commitments.

Lead project closeout activities, e.g. post-implementation reviews, to capture learnings and best practices for future capital projects and equipment procurements.

Liaise with internal and external partners to incorporate emerging practices, innovations, and technical knowledge into project planning and execution.

Professional Practice

Apply PMP and established project management methodologies to manage complex capital and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.

Provide subject matter expertise in capital planning, equipment procurement, and project delivery, supporting knowledge transfer and capacity building across teams.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clinical leaders, the FPMO, Medical Engineering, and external partners to support successful project delivery.

Use strong communication skills to foster stakeholder engagement and alignment, while balancing competing priorities, to ensure informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Establish and maintain effective partnerships with project sponsors and team members, contributing to informed decision-making and successful outcomes.

Evaluate project outcomes and provide recommendations to support sustainability, operational optimization, and continuous improvements based on lessons learned.

Collaborate across SickKids teams, external partners, and peer organizations to share knowledge and enhance project delivery approaches.

decision-making, and implementation activities. Here's What You'll Need Undergraduate degree in either Health or Business Administration, Master's degree in either of the above considered an asset

2-5 years of experience managing complex projects within a healthcare environment, including capital projects or equipment procurements

Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred or evidence of working towards

Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt+ preferred or evidence of working towards

Effective written and oral communication skills

Highly developed analytical, evaluation, and organizational skills

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Zoom
