BC Place is hiring aConversion Specialistto join the Facility Operations team. We are looking for individuals who thrive on accountability, teamwork, service excellence, innovation and getting things done representative of a world class facility. Qualified individuals must have a proven track record in performing all elements of Conversions in a safe, qualitative and effective manner contributing to the success of the facilities’ ability to meet market demands. Required to lead crews with minimum supervision, the Conversion Specialist must have the ability to direct, coach, train and mentor others in key disciplines. WHAT YOU WILL DO:Competently and efficiently perform and instruct others in all Conversion disciplines. Field Turf Maintenance including painting and eradication and operation of vehicles and equipment Secondary Roof – Installation and Retraction. Operation and Maintenance of retractable seating units. Operation and Maintenance of electric seating units including operation of high-pressure air sleds. Proficient in the installation, removal, storage, and repair of turf protection cover (the floor). Main roof inspections – routine maintenance. Responsible for instructing, directing and coaching teams including employees from secondary classifications with the full conversion process when on shift– changing from one event configuration to another within required timelines in a safe and efficient manner.
Includes Conversion disciplines and other conversion operational tasks, i.E. fencing, stanchions, etc. Identify areas to improve operational efficiency, make recommendations and implement changes as necessary. Respond to last-minute changing operational needs, able to re-prioritize work. Review and analyze conversion process and make recommendations to ensure the most efficient and effective use of staff resources. Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner to ensure an efficient and steady flow of information. Provide direction to full-time, part-time Tech employees and on occasion event-time team members working tech roles to support conversions. Monitor ongoing BCP radio communication and identify situations where supervisory support is required. Implement and communicate all work policies and procedures related to all aspects of conversion in accordance with WorkSafe BC regulations. Ensure client requests and event requirements are met and dealt with in a professional manner; ensure effective and timely communication and maintain optimal facility operations. Provide direction on matters related to in-house rolling stock. Assist in training of team members; help identify andassess training needs for conversion crew members and provide job-specific training for a variety of conversion tasks. Promote safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment.
Perform other duties as required including duties from Facilities Operations, Engineering and Maintenance. WHAT YOU BRING:Minimum 4 years of full-time work experience in Conversions. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of conversion disciplines, i.E. conversion (including secondary roof), trade and/or other. Proven ability to work collaboratively and build healthy work relationships at all levels. Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to provide clear direction. Knowledge and use of WHMIS an asset. Fall Arrest/Protection training. Experience working with and safeguarding fragile materials. Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proven track record to solve problems, make sound decisions, and use resources efficiently. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physically fit – able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform manual labour in a fast-paced environment. Working at heights, including climbing and walking on uneven surfaces. Physical coordination - work in tight quarters carrying heavy equipment without falling, tripping, toppling, etc. High degree of spatial awareness, working in tight quarters. Comfortable and flexible with scheduling – including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays – to support event demands. Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.44 We are proud to be a diverse organization.
