As one of Canada’s fastest-growing pre-engineered steel building companies, our digital ecosystem is rapidly expanding. We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Purchaser to carry out day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring the materials, components, consumables, and services required are ordered accurately and delivered on time.

Summary

As the Purchaser, you will support the day-to-day purchasing activities for Canadian Metal Buildings. This role will assist with purchase orders, supplier communication, pricing follow-up, delivery tracking, purchasing records, inventory support, and coordination with internal teams.

Responsibilities

- Partner with production, estimating, project management, design, and receiving teams to ensure timely availability of materials, components, and services.
- Review purchase requisitions and supplier confirmations daily for accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Follow up on outstanding purchase orders, backorders, delayed shipments, and supplier discrepancies to prevent production downtime.
- Proactively monitor supply chain activities to identify, escalate, and resolve material shortages or quality concerns promptly.




- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing, high-quality materials, and reliable delivery schedules.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply contracts to optimize company costs while ensuring policy compliance.
- Support inventory control by monitoring stock levels, usage trends, reorder points, and material lead times.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and maintain accurate procurement documentation, including POs and performance records.
- Assist in tracking departmental KPIs and metrics to continuous improve procurement strategies.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations preferred (equivalent hands-on experience considered)
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain execution roles
- Background in manufacturing, steel, construction, or building materials is preferred
- Familiarity with supply chain management, vendor management, and procurement best practices.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and experience with ERP/MRP systems is an asset.

Additional Information

- Hours of work: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Monday to Friday

****Compensation: The anticipated base annual range for this role is $60,000-$70,000. Actual base annual range offered within this range may differ based on a range of factors, including individual experience, education, skills, and organizational needs. Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
