Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Recreation Aide (Until February 2027), where you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities through engaging recreational activities. Duties & Responsibilities
RECREATION & WELL-BEING
- Plan, schedule, and effectively facilitate programs at HMLTC ranging from small to large groups, and during special events to meet the needs of the residents.
- Assist with coordinating and communicating programs, purchase supplies, decorate, set up, oversee, assist residents, clean up, document, and evaluate programs;
- Establish a working relationship with residents/families and coworkers to meet their needs by using therapeutic communication;
- Support the residents in in achieving high-quality social and personal experiences;
- Support families and team members' in understanding the importance of Resident choices in relation to recreation and leisure education and participation;
- Observe and report changes in physical ability of the residents to the home area nurse or supervisor;
- Collaborate with other therapy programs such as pet therapy, music therapy, art therapy, and to connect the Long Term Care residents with the community
CLERICAL DUTIES
- Support Recreation Therapy Assistants when needed resident assessments, establish goals and interventions based on the residents' identified needs and concerns;
- Support Recreation Therapy Assistants in documenting quarterly, major change and annual reviews along with care plans;
- Record attendance and keep recreation participation and interest records as required including progress notes;
- Assist with inventory control and provide input in equipment selection;
- Participate in quality management program as required: audits, home’s committees, and other initiative.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
- Report any equipment malfunction to the Director of Resident Programs;
- Contribute to a culture of relationship-based care by improving safety, quality, resident and staff satisfaction within HMLTC
- Incorporate numerous essential components and, using recognised approaches and resources, develops and nurtures leadership, staff, families, and care partners to be person-centered and relationship-focused.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Fosters a positive work environment, as well as customer service in all aspects of care
- Carries oneself in a professional manner at all times and in reference to the Team Member Code of Conduct; maintaining professionalism while interacting with all stakeholders at all times;
- Works/provides support to the HMLTC team as requested to support residents;
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
