Part time Dental Hygienist – 12-Month Contract

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Registered Dental Hygienist to join our specialty dental practice on a 12-month part-time contract.

The position will be Tuesdays and Fridays from September through December 2026, with the schedule subject to change beginning in January 2027 based on practice needs.

As a member of our multidisciplinary specialty team, you will provide exceptional periodontal and preventive care while working closely with our specialists, clinical team, and referring dental professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for a hygienist who enjoys providing comprehensive patient care in a collaborative, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, including:
- Clinical assessments and periodontal evaluations
- Scaling and root planing
- Oral cancer screenings
- Polishing, including Prophy-Jet
- Application of desensitizing agents
- Oral hygiene instruction and patient education
- Nutritional counselling
- Review of medical histories, blood pressure and pulse
- Exposing dental radiographs as prescribed
- Provide periodontal maintenance and ongoing patient care.
- Provide specialized care and maintenance for patients with:
- Single implants
- Implant-supported bridges
- Fixed and removable implant-supported dentures
- Assess implant health and provide patients with appropriate home-care recommendations and follow-up.
- Clearly communicate clinical findings, treatment recommendations, and home-care instructions to patients.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in accordance with CDHO guidelines.
- Maintain and follow all infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards and practice protocols.
- Ensure hygiene equipment and instruments are properly maintained and cared for.
- Maintain appropriate supplies and ensure the operatory is prepared for each patient.




- Work collaboratively with doctors and the clinical team to optimize patient flow and provide comprehensive care.
- Communicate with the front desk regarding scheduling and patient needs.
- Accurately complete billing for services provided.
- Communicate patient status and treatment recommendations with referring dental offices as required.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain current clinical knowledge and skills.
