GFL Environmental is looking for a Residential Driver in West Hants, NS!

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport them to post-collection facilities.

Requirements

- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Licensing: Valid Class 3 driver’s license.

- Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of a recognized CDL training program.

- Physical Ability: Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and maneuvering in tight spaces.

- Skills &
- Knowledge: Strong communication, teamwork, working knowledge of vehicle safety/maintenance, and ability to perform manual labor in varying environments.

Responsibilities

- Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate side loaders or recycling trucks and related equipment along assigned routes.

- Safety Inspections:



Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required reports.

- Waste Management: Collect solid waste and recyclables, identifying and handling prohibited or hazardous waste in accordance with company procedures.

- Reporting &
- Maintenance: Maintain vehicle cleanliness and promptly report any mechanical issues or route hazards.

- Regulatory Compliance: Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies, maintaining accurate service records.

- Route Efficiency: Support route optimization, communicate effectively with supervisors, and assist with overtime as needed.

- Physical &
- Mental Demands: Requires regular walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting, as well as maintaining focus while driving in high-traffic, noisy, or fast-paced settings.

- Environment: Outdoor work across all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) with exposure to noise, odors, and moving vehicles. Proper protective equipment (PPE) is provided for occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
