De Boers Market is an on farm store and butcher shop in Caledon Ontario. Our goal is to provide the community with local meats raised on our farm or other Ontario farms.

PURPOSE

This position will include assisting customers, running cash, keeping inventory, cleaning, and general maintenance as well as customer service and occasional assisting in the butcher room with packing of meat and prepping foods to sell in the kitchen. Experience in retail is an asset however we are willing to train the right individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

- Completion of Post-Secondary Education required
- Prior culinary or retail experience is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills
- Strong people management and communication abilities
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Must be available to work days leading up to holiday weekends including Saturdays
- Must be available to work two Saturdays per month
- High attention to detail when preparing and packaging products
- Exceptional customer service standards, skills and abilities. Must be able to process sales through point of sale and answer customer questions both in person and over the phone.
- Must have excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to take and fill customer orders.
- Must have your own vehicle-there is no public transportation to the store

RESPONSIBILITIES




- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and skilled manner
- Ensure the customer experience is of the highest quality possible
- Operate cash register and process transactions
- Maintain a clean store environment
- Stock shelves and ensure products are neatly displayed
- Support and adhere to company food safety standards and other requirements, such as equipment training, safety training and monitoring
- Prepare and package a variety of products in store kitchen to sell through the store utilizing products that we sell in store
- Vac packaging and labelling different cuts of meat
- Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence.
- Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others.
- Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act.
- Participate in all training programs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing in one spot for long periods of time
- Lifting of items of 50+ lbs

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to cold temperatures, cut room is approx. 8-10 degrees, occasional organizing of freezer
- Some exposure to noise when bandsaw or grinder is running

MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO STORE, NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
