Robotics & Electromechanical Course Designer (Part-Time)

Organization: Young Innovators Robotics Lab Location: Hybrid – Surrey / Langley / Abbotsford Time Commitment: Part-Time (consistent weekly availability required)

Overview

Young Innovators Robotics Lab is seeking a Robotics & Electromechanical Course Designer to design and develop hands-on robotics, STEM, and 3D printing courses for students aged 6–14.

This role focuses on 3D-printed electromechanical design and a time-intensive, iterative engineering process. You will design, prototype, refine, and translate complex engineering ideas into simple, engaging, and age-appropriate learning experiences.

This is a two-fold role:

- Engineering & project design
- Curriculum & course development

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, enjoys simplifying complex topics, and thrives in a startup-style, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design interactive, hands-on STEM and 3D printing curriculum that emphasizes iteration, problem-solving, and creativity
- Develop lesson plans, project guides, and learning resources that encourage students to test, refine, and improve their designs
- Design and iterate on hands-on electromechanical projects using an iterative design process
- Create real-world 3D printing projects that introduce students to digital design and fabrication
- Use CAD tools and 3D printing workflows to create sample models and course materials
- Translate technical ideas into clear, age-appropriate lessons for students aged 6–14
- Ensure content is accessible to different learning styles and classroom settings

- Take ownership of deliverables and collaborate with instructors to refine content based on classroom feedback

Time Commitment & Expectations

- Requires meaningful and consistent weekly availability
- Work is hands-on and iteration-heavy
- Not suited for candidates seeking a low-engagement or occasional role
- Reliability, responsibility, and follow-through are essential

Qualifications Required

- Background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering
- Passion for teaching and working with children aged 6–14
- Strong ability to simplify complex technical concepts

- Experience using CAD software
- Familiarity with 3D printing workflows
- Experience integrating basic electronics into physical designs
- Self-driven, organized, and dependable

Strong Asset

- Prior experience designing and iterating on custom, hands-on engineering projects, especially projects that combine mechanical design, electronics, and fabrication

Why Join Young Innovators Robotics Lab

- Design projects students actually build and learn from
- Work at the intersection of engineering, creativity, and education
- See your designs used in real classrooms
- Have meaningful ownership in a growing STEM education startup
