Role Description The Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Prince George, BC. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures, as well as administering medications, treatments, and anesthesia under veterinary direction.
The RVT will perform laboratory tests, take radiographs, monitor patients before and after surgery, and ensure accurate medical records. The role also involves client communication and education, supporting reception and triage as needed, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized clinical environment.
The RVT will actively contribute to a collaborative team culture and support continuous improvement in patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in patient handling, nursing care, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, and radiology.
- Strong communication and client service skills, with the ability to explain treatment plans and home care instructions clearly and respectfully.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, manage multiple tasks, and remain calm and organized in a rapid-paced clinical setting.
- Commitment to animal welfare, attention to detail in medical record keeping, and adherence to hospital protocols and safety standards.
- Comfort with basic computer use, practice management software, and digital record systems.
- Previous experience in a companion animal hospital or small animal practice is an asset.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and skills development relevant to veterinary technology.
