Who Are We?
Folks is a rapidly growing Quebec-based tech leader dedicated to revolutionizing HR for Canadian SMEs. Our all-in-one SaaS platform features over 30 modules designed to simplify the lives of managers and HR professionals.
With a portfolio of over 1,300 clients nationwide, we pride ourselves on our creativity, passion, and ambition. From recruitment and onboarding to performance management, Folks centralizes the employee lifecycle, allowing companies to focus on what matters most: their people.
The Mission
Reporting to the Sales Director, you are the first human voice a prospect hears from Folks. Your job is to earn attention on the phone, find out whether there's a real problem worth solving, and get the right conversations onto our Account Executives' calendars.
This is a fully remote role, and your territory is Ontario — so you'll need to live in the province. We'll send you the full setup (laptop, headset, screens) and you'll join us in person a few times a year for team gatherings in Quebec and HR industry events.
Let's Be Upfront About This Role
We'd rather lose you at the job posting than at week six. So here's the honest version:
- This is a phone job. Expect 60–80 dials per day, every day. Talk time is the metric that matters most.
- You won't build your own lists. Targeted, pre-qualified call lists are built for you and loaded into Apollo and Pipedrive. You focus on calling, not researching.
- No LinkedIn prospecting. No email sequences to write. Other people own those channels. Yours is the phone.
- You'll hear "no" far more often than "yes." That's the job, not a sign it's going badly.
- Your finish line is the booked meeting. You qualify quickly against our Ideal Customer Profile, then hand off — the full needs analysis belongs to the Account Executive.
- Your hours track your prospects' hours. Decision-makers answer between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., so your calling blocks live there.
- Remote means no one is watching. There's no office buzz to carry you through a slow afternoon and no manager walking past your desk. On the days it isn't going well, you're the one who picks up the phone again. Some people find that freeing; others find it isolating. Be honest with yourself about which one you are.
- The base is $50,000, fixed and guaranteed. The target OTE is $80,000 — the $30,000 difference is on you. You earn $200 for every meeting that is held and qualified, uncapped. We also pay a ramp allowance over your first three months, on top of your bonuses, so the learning curve doesn't cost you money. After that, hitting the target is the expectation,
not the ceiling. If you want to earn more than the base, the phone is how you get there.
If that sounds like a grind, it is. It's also the fastest way we know to build real sales skill — and the people who do it well here get rewarded fast.
Your Impact (Daily Tasks)
- High-Volume Calling: Work through the call lists we provide, consistently hitting 60–80 dials a day.
- The Icebreaker: Earn the first 30 seconds so you can earn the next three minutes. Articulate the value of an HRIS clearly, to people who weren't expecting your call.
- Fast Qualification: Confirm fit against our ICP — company size, HR pain, timing, decision-maker — without turning the call into a full discovery.
- Clean Handoffs: Book the meeting and brief the Account Executive so they walk in prepared.
- CRM Discipline: Log every call, outcome, and follow-up in Apollo and Pipedrive the same day. Nothing falls through the cracks.
- Continuous Growth: Call reviews, role-play sessions, coaching, and internal e-learning to sharpen your craft.
- Goal Smashing: Consistently exceed KPIs on dial volume, conversations held, qualified meetings booked, and pipeline contribution.
Who You Are
- You Actually Like the Phone: Cold calling doesn't intimidate you. You'd rather talk to a stranger than write to one.
- Resilient & Tenacious: You treat "no" as "not yet" and don't let a rough hour become a rough day.
- Consistent Over Brilliant: You bring the same energy to your 70th call as your 5th. In this role, consistency beats cleverness.
- Built for Remote: You've either worked from home successfully or you know exactly how you'd structure your day to do it. You have a quiet space to take calls, you start on time without being told, and you speak up when you're stuck instead of going quiet.
- Based in Ontario: You live in the province and can work Eastern-time business hours.
- Coachable: You want your calls reviewed, and you act on the feedback.
- Self-Disciplined: You're a self-starter who doesn't need micromanaging to stay on the phone and stay competitive.
- Experience: 0–24 months of sales experience (B2B or tech is a major plus, but we value drive and attitude above all).
This Role Probably Isn't for You If…
- You're looking for a role where prospecting means writing thoughtful emails and LinkedIn messages.
- You want to own the full sales cycle from day one.
- Repetitive, high-volume activity drains you rather than focuses you.
- You need the energy of a room around you to stay motivated, or you'd rather not be responsible for structuring your own day.
Bonus Points For
- Previous SDR/BDR or high-volume calling experience (including call centre or inside sales).
- Familiarity with Pipedrive, Apollo, or similar CRMs.
- An interest in or knowledge of Human Resources.
- Previous experience working remotely or in a distributed team.
The Folks Culture
Working at Folks isn't just a job; it's a career catalyst.
- Remote, Wherever You Are in Ontario: Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury or a small town in between — if you're in the province, you can do this job from home.
- Together in Person, on Purpose: A few times a year we get everyone in the same room — team gatherings in Quebec and HR industry events. Real faces, real conversations, then back to your own space.
- Flexibility Where It Fits: A 37.5-hour week and a team that respects your personal life. Your calling blocks follow business hours — the rest of your schedule is yours to manage.
- Real Autonomy: We hire people who own their numbers, then get out of their way. How you hit your targets is largely up to you.
- The "Vibe": We're a young, dynamic team where meme-sharing on Slack matters almost as much as hit-rate optimization.
- Direct Impact: Every meeting you book shows up in our growth. You aren't a number; you're the reason we grow.
- A Real Next Step: This role is a launchpad. We'd rather promote from within than post an AE job.
What We Offer
- Compensation: $50,000 fixed base salary + $200 per meeting held and qualified, uncapped — a target OTE of $80,000.
- A Ramp That Pays: Nobody books at full speed in month one. For your first three months you receive a ramp allowance on top of every bonus you earn, so your first-year earnings track the full OTE while you learn the craft.
- Fully Remote in Ontario: Work from home anywhere in the province, with all the equipment you need provided — laptop, headset, and screens.
- Security: Group insurance (50% employer-paid) + Health Spending Account.
- Future-Focused: RRSP and DPSP programs.
- Wellness: Flexible vacation policy and a bank of sick leave.
- Environment: A "startup tech" atmosphere with frequent team social events and ongoing qualified training.
We look forward to meeting you!
