Nanaimo Foodshare is seeking an enthusiastic School Garden Facilitator to lead hands-on outdoor learning experiences for students. Inspire kids to explore gardening, food systems, and nature while building food literacy and environmental awareness.

This short term position is available from mid-March to the end of the school year, mid-June. Approximately 10 - 24 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead hands-onengaging, age-appropriate garden lessons and activities related to gardening, food systems, and seasonal growing
- Plant, harvest, and maintain school gardens
- Create a safe, inclusive, and fun outdoor learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and program staff
- Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, and learning styles
- Model curiosity, respect for land, and positive leadership with students

Qualifications
- Passion for food gardening, environmental education, or outdoor learning
- Experience working with children or youth (education, camps, outdoor programs, or community programs)
- Gardening knowledge and comfort working outdoors in all weather
- Solid communication and group facilitation skills
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently




- Google Drive experience is an asset

Requirements
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (required)
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers license
- Reliable personal transportation
