Main purpose of job:
Provide a protected secure working environment for the staff of the British High Commission.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Entry control of public and staff entrances
- Searches of visitors and vehicles – as required
- Surveillance and patrol of the perimeter of the site including the use of CCTV equipment.
- Responsible for inspection of all incoming mail/couriered packages and deliveries which will include the operation of scanning equipment.
- Provide escort/security as required the British High Commission
- Provide escort/security as required at the residence of the British High Commissioner
- Supervision of contracted security officers – as required
- Other duties as directed
- Occasional overtime and out of hours working.
Language requirements:

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Essential on arrival:
- Valid Ontario Provincial Government Security Guard License*.
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a security related field.
- Minimum First Aid Certified with CPR and AED qualifications**.
- Basic IT skills are needed including a working knowledge of Windows 10, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

- French as a second language is not required but would be an asset.

Working Pattern:
- The job is not suitable for Flexible working.
- The position will involve work shift work on a rotating basis currently between 0630 and 2130 hrs Monday to Friday, but very occasional Weekends and Evening overtime will also be included in the scope of duties.
