Senior Accountant – 12 month contract, Immediate start

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the financial operations. This hands-on role combines financial reporting, cash flow management, compliance, and team leadership, while providing the opportunity to work across multiple entities and industries. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting senior management, business performance and driving operational excellence.
Financial
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports for 20+ entities.
Monitor cash flow requirements and review weekly and annual cash positions.
Perform financial analysis, including cost analysis, variance reporting, and performance monitoring.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Accounting & Operations
Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Review credit card transactions and expense reporting.
Provide accounting and administrative support for self-storage operations.
Tax & Compliance
Review GST and other government filing requirements.
Prepare and review tax and information return filings, including T4, T4A, T5, T3010, T2, T5013, and T3 returns.
Complete CRA reporting requirements as needed.
Prepare year-end working papers and coordinate with external accountants.
Payroll & Property Accounting
Oversee payroll, WCB reporting, and employee profit-sharing payments.
Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) recovery reports and CAM budget statements for tenants.
Review insurance requirements and loan documentation.
Team Leadership
Supervise and support accounting and administrative staff.
Assist with process improvements and special projects as required Qualifications and Skills
Professional accounting designation is preferred (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; or CPA, CGA); equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in a senior accounting or management role.
Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Knowledge and experience in accounting for commercial real estate operations is an asset
Experience with corporate tax, partnership, trust and charitable information returns is considered an asset Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with strong overall computer skills Experience with QuickBooks is required Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with attention to detail Reporting Structure
This role reports to the Principal.
