The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial records across multiple legal entities. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong hands-on bookkeeping experience, advanced excel skills (i.e. Power Query, pivot tables, macros etc.), the ability to manage competing priorities, and a solid understanding of multi-entity accounting and period end close processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across multiple entities, ensuring proper segregation, consistency, and integrity while processing high volume daily transactions.
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including:
- - Accounts receivable.
- Bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Vendor reconciliations.
- Related party reconciliations.
- Journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes across all entities.
- Prepare and review intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulations.
- Assist with financial reporting, including internal management reports.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as required.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Respond to finance‑related inquiries from internal stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or similar field.
- 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Professional accounting designation or progress toward one is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple legal entities.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
