POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior BIM Technician plays a critical role in supporting the execution of design, coordination, construction, and fabrication documentation across all phases of a project. This role will lead and support advanced modeling efforts, standards development, and quality control while collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. The Senior BIM Technician will be responsible for complex Revit modeling, creation and maintenance of families and standards, coordination between disciplines, and ensuring all deliverables meet Symtech’s quality and BIM standards.
This individual is expected to work with minimal supervision and mentor junior team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to develop advanced BIM models and detailed construction drawings from concepts, sketches, mark-ups, and technical data
- Lead and support project teams in the creation, management, and coordination of BIM models and 2D drawing sets
- Develop, modify, and maintain complex parametric Revit families and content libraries
- Perform 3D coordination with structural, architectural, and other trade models, identifying and resolving conflicts
- Prepare and update models and drawings based on site conditions, as-built layouts, and Trimble/RFP/field data
- Produce accurate as-built and coordination drawings
- Prepare detailed sheets and drawings for pre-fabrication and installation
- Conduct clash detection and communicate issues clearly to project teams
- Review drawings and models for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with standards
- Maintain proper use of Revit worksets and support the work-sharing process
- Support the setup and organization of Revit views, sheets, schedules, and browser structure
- Contribute to the development, enhancement, and implementation of Symtech’s BIM and CAD standards
- Assist with document control, electronic filing, and model version management per company standards
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, installers, and other stakeholders to support project requirements
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and external trade partners involved in modelling and coordination scope, including reviewing submitted models and drawings for compliance with project and Symtech standards, tracking deliverables against schedule,
and resolving coordination issues
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior BIM Technicians/Drafters
- Remain updated on current modeling, drafting, and BIM technologies and best practices
The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Diploma or equivalent in Architectural Design, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, BIM, or a related field
- 5 years of skilled BIM/Revit experience in construction is preferred (electrical, security, or mechanical an asset)
- Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including: Worksharing and worksets, Family creation and editing, Views, schedules, filters, and browser organization
- Clash detection and interdisciplinary coordination
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Design Review, and BIM 360/ACC
- Solid understanding of 2D documentation and 3D modeling practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction, architectural, and engineering drawings
- Experience importing and managing external content (spreadsheets, PDFs, images, point cloud data)
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across project teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
TRAVEL:
- Up to 30% Travel within the GTA
