Senior BSA Competencies with AI skillset
Must-have:
- Requirements Engineering : Expertise in eliciting, documenting, and prioritizing complex business and functional requirements using techniques like workshops, interviews, and process modeling.
- Project Delivery : Proven track record in Agile/Scrum methodologies, managing deliverables, and ensuring compliance with SDLC standards.
- Hands-on experience on creating user stories on Jira and documenting requirements on confluence (Defining acceptance criteria for systems and users)
- Systems Analysis & Design : Proficiency in translating business needs into technical solutions, including process flow diagrams, swim lanes, use cases.
- Stakeholder Management : Solid ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, IT, vendors) to align solutions with strategic goals.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Capacity to dissect complex systems, identify gaps in data flow, and propose solutions for process improvements
- Soft Skills:
- “ Go Getter” – someone that just jump right in, be able to use existing resources and documentation to learn on the job and execute right away
- Communication : Strong communication skills to engage with technical teams (developers, data engineers) and business stakeholders to validate requirements and logic.
- Mentorship : Experience guiding junior BSAs and fostering knowledge-sharing in cross-functional teams.

- Industry-Specific Knowledge: Messaging & Voice Platforms : Hands-on experience with omnichannel platforms (e.g., customer support bots, IVRs)
Technical Competencies Must-have:
- AI/ML Expertise & Application
- AI Utilization: Active integration of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, MCPs) into daily workflows, both personally and professionally, to enhance productivity and decision-making.
- AI/ML Workflow Knowledge: Understanding of end-to-end AI/ML workflows,
including data preprocessing, model training, and deployment, alongside proficiency in prompt engineering and ethical AI governance frameworks (e.g., fairness, transparency, compliance).
- AI Product Development: Proven experience contributing to AI-driven product capabilities, from conceptualization to implementation, in prior roles.
- Generative AI Proficiency: Demonstrated familiarity with leading generative AI platforms (e.g., Cohere, OpenAI, Google Gemini) and their practical applications in banking, such as chatbot development, document automation, and risk analysis.
- Industry Awareness: Up-to-date knowledge of AI/ML industry standards, competitor solutions, and emerging models, with a focus on practical implications for banking.
- Prompt Engineering for BSA Contexts: (Nice-to-have) Experience tailoring prompts for business systems analysis tasks, such as requirements gathering, process mapping, or stakeholder communication.
Data Expertise
- Proven Data experience (defining data elements, types, mapping).
- Ability to analyze data flow architectures , including how domain sources transmit data downstream (e.g., batch files , ETL processes, real-time streaming).
- Skill in identifying and documenting business rules , data dictionary, data transformations, and enrichment processes applied to datasets before downstream delivery
API
- Proven experience in API discovery , documentation, and lifecycle management, error handling.
- Understanding of APIs (REST, SOAP) .
- Understanding of tools like Postman , Swagger/OpenAPI , SQL, and data modeling software.
- Understanding of API authentication schemes (OAuth, API keys, JWT, etc.) and their impact on data access/integration.
- Understanding of API inventories and data lineage diagrams.
