Position Description

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at the client’s office, at a minimum 1–2 days per week, subject to change at any time.

The Senior Business Analyst (BA) will support Corporate and Investment Banking data, reporting, and platform modernization initiatives. The role requires strong business analysis, data analysis, stakeholder management, and testing capabilities, with an emphasis on translating business and reporting needs into clear functional and data requirements. The BA will work closely with Business, Finance, Product, Data, Technology, and QA teams across complex enterprise programs.

The portfolio of work includes modernization of client profitability and portfolio-management reporting, replacement of legacy and manually maintained reporting solutions, implementation of centralized data platforms, integration of multiple source systems, historical data migration, and adoption of technologies such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Power BI.

Your future duties and responsibilities

- Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage business, functional, data, and reporting requirements across complex modernization initiatives.
- Assess current-state business processes, data flows, reports, and controls; identify pain points, data gaps, manual activities, and opportunities for automation; and define future-state requirements.
- Partner with Business and Finance stakeholders to understand reporting objectives, key metrics, business rules, profitability and portfolio-analysis needs, and data-quality expectations.
- Perform and support data analysis, including source-to-target mapping, field-level mapping, data lineage analysis, reconciliation rules, transformation logic, and identification of data-quality issues.
- Contribute to data warehousing, data management, and data-modelling discussions by translating business concepts into clear data requirements and validating that proposed data structures support reporting and analytical needs.
- Work closely with data engineers, developers, architects, BI developers, and QA teams to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented across ingestion, transformation, storage, and reporting layers.
- Support modernization of legacy analytics and manually maintained Excel-based processes into scalable, centralized data and reporting solutions.
- Define and validate requirements for dashboards and reports, including measures, dimensions, filters, calculations, drill-downs, business rules, usability, and reconciliation to source data.
- Support historical data migration by defining migration requirements, mapping legacy data to target structures, validating completeness and accuracy, and reconciling migrated data.
- Plan, create, and execute test cases and test scenarios covering business functionality, data transformation, data quality, reconciliation, migration, and reporting outputs.
- Document test results and defects, support root-cause analysis, coordinate retesting,



and provide hands-on support through system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, walkthroughs, and presentations with business and technology stakeholders to drive decisions, resolve requirements questions, and communicate findings.
- Produce high-quality BA deliverables such as business requirements, functional requirements, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, business rules, test cases, traceability matrices, and supporting documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and delivery teams, manage competing priorities, track dependencies and issues, and support timely delivery of project milestones.
- Support project planning and delivery activities, including estimation, planning, status reporting, risk/issue management, resource coordination, and monitoring of deliverables.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual-thinking skills, with the ability to investigate complex business and data issues and translate findings into actionable requirements.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data management practices, data mapping, data modelling, data lineage, data quality, and reconciliation principles.
- Ability to understand and challenge data and reporting logic, including source systems, transformations, business rules, calculations, dimensions, measures, and downstream report outputs.
- Experience with reporting and analytics solutions; Power BI experience or familiarity is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and technologies such as Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Data Factory is highly desirable. Developer-level expertise is not required.
- Knowledge of Corporate Banking and/or Investment Banking products, terminology, data, and reporting requirements is a strong asset. Relevant experience may include lending, loans, commitments, portfolio management, client profitability, project finance, infrastructure finance, risk, or financial reporting.
- Experience with banking source systems such as ACBS or similar commercial lending/portfolio platforms is an asset.
- Robust understanding of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, workshop facilitation, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, manage ambiguity and competing priorities, and drive requirements through to implementation and validation.




- Proficiency with project and delivery tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or Asana.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word.

Must Have skills
- >5 8 yrs experience in BA Capacity and supporting Capital Markets projects/products for Corporate Banking (Highly preferrable)
- Understanding of, and experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, PowerBI, .NET
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Knowledge of, or interest in AI as a nice to have

Certifications (preferred But Not Required)

- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or similar Business Analysis certification.
- SAFe, Agile, or related delivery certification.
- CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
