Job Title
Mechanical Designer
Reporting To
Manager, Sr. Engineering
Work Schedule
Hybrid – Halifax, NS
Responsibilities
Evaluate and select materials and components for product designs in marine/subsea environments
Conduct conceptual and detailed product design using 3D CAD software and support tools
Prepare, maintain, and verify design documents including drawings, specifications, BoMs, and reports
Analyze structural and pressure rated designs for subsea use through calculation and FEA
Define component and product test requirements, including related equipment and safety measures
Check design documents for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to design requirements
Identify, review, interpret, and apply relevant industry rules, specifications, and codes
Provide technical assistance necessary to support product marketing and sales
Provide technical support to purchasing, production, and QA for materials, processes, and special requirements
Ensure all designs meet required specifications and quality, while also ensuring design for cost, design for reuse, design for manufacture and design for test
Support other design groups, particularly in areas of expertise
Actively support and promote workplace health, safety, and wellness
Perform other relevant duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
A BASc or BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, with 4 or more years of relevant experience, or an Engineering Technology Diploma with 7 or more years of relevant experience
Well-established computer skills, including 2D and 3D CAD (PTC Creo is an asset)
Experience conducting engineering analysis of structural and/or high‑pressure (subsea)
rated designs is an asset
Experience with integrated control systems, incorporating fluid, electrical, and electronic components, is an asset
