Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Associate Pastor’s job is to assist the staff team in organizing, leading and fulfilling the various ministries of the church in an organized, effective and Christ honoring manner.

Responsibilities

Perform duty under the direct consultation of the Senior Pastor.

In the absence of a Senior Pastor, be responsible to the Congregational Moderator as well as the Advisory Board.

Assist in the promotion of evangelism and creating evangelistic opportunities / training.

Preach / teach the Word in its purity and power, including preaching at a minimum of 12 times per year and participating in / leading a Life Group.

Help oversee the office administration of this church, including:

Oversee and liaise with volunteer teams such as the Nominating Committee, Music Committee, Head Usher, Head Security Patrol, and Sound Room Technicians, etc.

Oversee the use of the church building/rentals, and key code management.

Church calendar planning.

Produce weekly bulletins / PowerPoint.

Keep church records and policy manuals current.

Oversee the Abuse prevention program.

Manage the website and keep information up to date.

Work with the Senior Pastor in the following areas of Ministry:

First connections – be the frontline contact for new people.

Planning of Worship Services.

Participate in visitation and care as needed – hospital or crisis and congregation.

Counselling – premarital and crisis as needed.





Assist in providing training for committees and commissions.

Participate in baptism / membership instruction, administer the ordinance of baptism, and officiate at the Lord’s Supper in connection with the pastoral team.

Assist with vision casting.

Participate in city‑wide evangelical ministerial.

Work with Senior Pastor to ensure smooth operations of church office.

Work together with the rest of the Pastoral Team as necessary to conduct the ministry of our church.

Expectations
The Associate Pastor is to have a real relationship with Jesus Christ and is to be actively seeking a deeper relationship with Him. This belief should be lived out in such a way that it is obvious and real to those in the leadership of PHC and our church family. They must be a team player of PHC recognizing that teamwork is essential to successful ministry. It is expected that he works closely with other staff members and other volunteers within the church. The Pastor will be disciplined and diligent with his time, keeping a balance between home and work. Professional review and development should occur through honest and ongoing feedback. Deliberate and meaningful conversations are expected with the Senior Pastor on a regular basis.
