General Description
The purpose of this role is to conduct scientific research and develop process control for plastic welding methods in industrial applications. It will also involve the development of a product strategy roadmap and product vision for emerging technologies in plastics processing.
Job Responsibilities
Process system design and control
Design and development of AI driven machine monitoring solutions
Define and develop the product strategy roadmap and product vision for standard products regarding plastic welding applications using laser technology
Manage the product development throughout the product life cycle, by gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements
Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure that the company’s overall strategy and goals are met
Investigate process feasibility for Sales and Project Management teams
Provide technical information/support for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments
Present proposals, reports, and findings to Sales, Project Management, and Engineering teams
Confer with Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering to discuss project specifications, procedures, and budgets
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports
Direct and manage government funding opportunities for R&D; tax credits – applications, audits, reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university required (MASc or PhD)
Knowledge/understanding of PLC programming
Working knowledge of various programming languages such as C#, Python, and MATLAB
Working knowledge of industry and engineering standards
Must be able to work in fast-paced environment
Must have valuable communication and organizational skills
Travel to USA, Mexico, and Canada (less than 10% of time)
