Position Overview
We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Field Engineer in the Engineering Projects department. Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the Field Engineer will provide support to Project Engineers by executing project management responsibilities. This role involves performing project management tasks, identifying solutions, and contributing to the successful completion of YVR’s projects. The Field Engineer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing multiple facets of the project to ensure adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Managing project documentation using tools like Procore, including:
Logging project requirements and drawings
Issuing and tracking site instructions, RFIs, and change orders
Reviewing submittals and progress draws
Identifying key lockouts from contractor schedules and reporting to Operations
Preparing and submitting lockout requests and Baggage Hall Requests for Change documentation
Coordinating lockouts by working with contractors, Operations, Maintenance, and other YVR stakeholders
Conducting regular site reviews to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contract documents
Attending construction sites to investigate RFIs and deficiency lists
Participating in project design meetings and providing input based on technical standards
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science or related field.
A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering would be an asset.
Registered with Engineers and Geoscientist of BC as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or be eligible to register and registered prior to start date.
Ability to read construction drawings and visualize in three dimensions.
Construction engineering experience or previous work in a construction environment.
Experience with project scheduling and document management software (Procore or other) will be an asset.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges and achieve results.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts over the phone and in person.
Solid communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
