Senior Product Owner – Fixed Income Trading Platforms | 6-Month Contract | Hybrid, Downtown Toronto
My client, one of Canada's Big 5 banks, is building a unified fixed income trading platform within its capital markets technology group — combining proprietary tools with industry-leading solutions to serve a growing global client base. This is a funded, multi-year modernization program, and they're hiring a senior product owner to help lead it.
This is a desk-facing product seat. You'll own the roadmap for FI trading and eTrading, partner directly with traders, quants, and operations to shape requirements, and lead cross-functional delivery of RFQ workflows, auto-response, algo execution, and pricing and risk capabilities. A significant part of the mandate is electronic trading venue integration — connectivity, onboarding, and workflow design across venues like Tradeweb, MarketAxess, and CanDeal — along with evaluating external vendors and making buy-vs-build calls alongside senior leadership.
What the team is looking for:
- 7–10 years building fixed income trading solutions inside large financial institutions,
on the broker/dealer side
- Deep working knowledge of the FI trading lifecycle — pricing and risk, RFQ, position and inventory management, clearing and settlement, regulatory
- Hands-on experience with electronic bond trading venues and their integration models, including FIX protocol
- Fluency across bond products — governments, provincials, corporates, IG and HY
- Bloomberg TOMS / E-TOMS experience is a solid asset, not a requirement
- The stakeholder presence to work directly with trading desks and senior technology leaders daily
Details:
- 6-month full-time contract, expected to extend — the program this role supports runs for years, not quarters
- Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite, downtown Toronto
- Rate: CAD $65–$85/hour depending on experience (up to $75/hour T4, up to $85/hour corp-to-corp)
