Wood is currently accepting expression of interest applications for a Construction Manager role in New Brunswick. This position will be supporting our Client with a Power/Utility expansion project.
The Role The Construction Manager acts on behalf of the Client and is responsible for planning and execution of work at the construction site. This includes managing all site activities, conducting site meetings, and regular reporting to the Project Manager. The Construction Manager will be required to be on-site for duration of the project and during all field work. This work will include new foundations, steel structures, building, trenching, transformers, breakers, PTs, CTs, switches, tie bus, etc.

Responsibilities: Primary workplace is office on site
Responsible for planning construction execution
Direct, manage, and coordinate all activities on site
Coordinate with Material Planner’s to arrange for materials to be provided to a contractor by the Client
Monitor, evaluate, and report progress against construction schedule
Ensure quality of the work and deficiency identification and correction
Collaborate with site lead, to identify required material and equipment
Ensure safety and security of site
Regular progress reporting to Project Manager
Identify change requests. If there is no impact to scope, cost or schedule, deal with change. Otherwise change requests escalated to Project Manager
Responsible for enforcing Field Change Authorization process with on-site contractors
Communicate with landowners and stakeholders where required
Ensure that any environmental and quality control protection requirements on site are carried out
Assist Project Manager with project closeout activities

Expected Qualifications: Currently authorized to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership role within construction projects
Minimum of eight (8) years’ field experience in an industrial environment
Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory, with clean abstract
Proficiency in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel)
Well-developed interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing requirements to a wide range of client groups (internal and external)
Skilled in coaching of co-workers and contractors, negotiation, mediation of disputes or differences of opinion and conflict resolution
Self-motivated, ability to work independently, or in a team environment, and provide leadership, support, direction, and consultation
Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills to meet project deadlines
Willingness to travel, participate in activities, network and build relationships
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to organize, analyze and report on various parameters and data sets
Ability to communicate in both English and French would be considered an asset
Ability to proactively detect challenges to safety, quality, cost and schedule that will ensure development and execution of effective prevention, mitigation, or corrective actions
