An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Responsibilities Work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories
Perform physical examinations
Create treatment plans
Assist with or perform diagnostics
Provide dentistry services
Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
Support medical management of patients
Develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff,



and clients
Program details Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Mount Brydges Animal Clinic are only offered to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Stipend eligibility Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Details on stipend amounts and the stipend program are available from the program.
