Systems Testing / QA Specialist – Intermediate
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days in office
Contract: September 9, 2026 – March 8, 2027
Duration: Approximately 6 months
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 hours/day
Incorp Rate: $55-$61.29/hr
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an Intermediate Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support testing activities for large-scale technology applications and solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing test activities, analyzing results, managing defects, and working closely with project teams to ensure applications meet functional, technical, accessibility, and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience testing web-based, mobile, on-premise, and cloud-integrated applications, along with strong knowledge of QA methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Execute testing activities across large-scale applications and technology solutions.
- Develop test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and test data based on business requirements and user stories.
- Execute test cycles, analyze results, document findings, and provide quality assurance reporting.
- Perform Functional, Integration, Regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Support testing across web-based, mobile, on-premise, and cloud-based applications/integrations.
- Identify, document, track, and manage defects through the full defect lifecycle.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, project teams, and other QA professionals to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze business processes, information systems, and user requirements to identify appropriate testing approaches.
- Support API testing and accessibility testing, including AODA requirements, where applicable.
- Coordinate with project team members to ensure testing activities remain aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
- Contribute to QA documentation, test results, defect reporting, and quality assurance metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience performing software testing for large-scale applications.
- Experience testing a combination of:
- On-premise applications
- Web-based solutions
- Cloud-based integrations
- Mobile platforms
- Strong experience executing test cycles, analyzing results, and managing defects through the full lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Functional Testing
- Integration Testing
- Regression Testing
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience working in Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, and Hybrid project environments.
- Experience analyzing business requirements and user stories to develop appropriate testing strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to understand business processes, information systems, web UI design, and accessibility requirements.
Testing & QA Tools
Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as:
- OpenText ALM
- OpenText Octane
- JIRA
- X-Ray
- Confluence
Experience with automated testing tools such as:
- Micro Focus UFT
- TOSCA
- Selenium
- Other comparable automation tools
Nice-to-Have Qualifications The following experience would be considered a robust asset:
- Software Quality Engineering certification or equivalent credential.
- Public sector experience.
- API testing experience.
- AODA/accessibility testing experience.
- Experience testing specialized platforms or technologies, including:
- AI-based solutions
- ServiceNow
- Salesforce
- SAP
- Equivalent enterprise platforms
- Experience with automated software testing.
- Experience working on large-scale government or enterprise technology projects
