About the Role The Container Guy is looking for a reliable and hardworking Shop / Yard Person with a Class 3 driver's licence to join our team.

This is primarily a hands-on shop and yard position, with driving responsibilities as needed. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day shop and yard operations, including handling materials, organizing inventory, preparing containers and products, loading and unloading, operating equipment, and keeping the work areas safe and organized.

The position will also involve local deliveries and pickups of containers and materials when required.

This role is a good fit for someone with experience in construction, fabrication, welding, mechanics, warehousing, equipment operation, trucking, or other hands-on industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Shop & Yard Duties

- Assist with daily shop and yard operations.
- Move, organize, and stage containers, materials, products, and equipment.
- Load and unload materials, products, and equipment.
- Prepare containers and products for delivery, pickup, or customer orders.
- Assist with container modifications, repairs, and general shop projects.
- Assist with basic construction, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance tasks.
- Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other shop/yard equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected shop and yard.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing materials.
- Help keep inventory and yard areas properly organized and accessible.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of equipment, vehicles, containers, and work areas.
- Follow all company safety procedures and safe work practices.

Driving & Transportation

- Operate Class 3 vehicles for local deliveries and pickups as required.
- Transport shipping containers, materials, and equipment safely.
- Load and properly secure cargo before transportation.




- Assist with positioning and placing containers at customer locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Complete delivery and pickup paperwork.
- Report any vehicle, equipment, or safety issues.

Other Duties

- Assist other departments and team members with daily operational tasks.
- Help with loading and unloading trucks and trailers.
- Perform other shop, yard, warehouse, and delivery-related duties as required.

Qualifications
- Valid Class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement.
- Clean and acceptable driver's abstract.
- Previous experience in a shop, construction, fabrication, welding, mechanical, warehouse, industrial, or yard environment is an asset.
- Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, or other equipment is an asset.
- Basic mechanical or construction skills are an asset.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools.
- Able to safely lift, move, and handle materials and equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.

What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with tools, equipment, containers, trucks, and construction-related materials.

The majority of the work will be focused on shop and yard operations, with Class 3 driving duties performed as needed.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks, containers, and equipment.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to perform manual material-handling tasks.
