Merlyn Power has been operating in the solar industry since 2003, working mainly in the tri-city area and are based in Kitchener.

We’re always looking for talent and are currently accepting applications for reliable part time help for residential solar energy system installation and service work.

This position could well lead to a higher number of hours, but is not guaranteed. Working days can be flexible between Mon-Friday during regular business hours. Please note -- we are looking for a reliable person who can commit to this flexible role for the remainder of 2026. If this doesn't fit with you, please don't apply.

We will provide task specific training, tools, and a flexible, friendly work workplace where you can learn new skills while doing quality work for our customers.

We are always looking to nurture talent, so for the right individual this position can lead to future growth into more site responsibility/duties and potentially other areas of the business as we value well rounded (both office and field) team members who can take responsibility in and contribute to the organization as a whole – aptitude and interest permitting.

Valid drivers license with good driving record is required. Applicants do not need to have spent time in the solar field, but as this position is primarily driven by installation work,



hands on construction experience and a degree of athleticism is required (must be comfortable working at height on the roof). This work has been described as "mountain climbing while electronics troubleshooting".

Working at Heights training provided if not otherwise currently held.

Shop duties

- Housekeeping of shop space, vehicles, organization and cleanup
- Shop fabrication work and assembly in support of project work
- Preparation of job material, racking, junction boxes, wiring leads etc

- Inventory management

Field work as solar technician/installer

- Layout of rooftop solar array
- Installation of solar PV mounts and racking system
- Homerun rough-in wiring and junction boxes
- Installation of inverter and homerun rough-in
- Installation of array perimeter guard/trim
- Assistance in service calls, troubleshooting and repair
- Site assessments for new installations (rooftop measurements, electrical documentation, structural framing documentation)
