This is where you come in, as a Junior Category Specialist you'll shape and execute the product assortment strategy, helping us offer the right products to the right customers at the right time. If you are in a Buying, Merchandise Planning, or Demand Planning role currently, this role is in the same wheelhouse.
Why We Need You
You’ve already built a few years of experience in category, merchandising or product management and are confident in using insights to find solutions and bring forward your recommendations. You’ve developed a solid foundation and are ready to take on more complex work with increasing autonomy. As part of the Category team, you’ll be helping to drive what trends are rising in the furniture and decor world and help analyze which new products will bring the most value to Articles expanding product offerings.
Responsibilities
Using market insights, trend data, and customer needs to help shape category strategy.
Supporting the Category Manager in building the category line plan and pricing strategy.
Analyzing in‑season and post‑season performance to inform go‑forward decisions.
Partnering with teams in Design, Sourcing, Planning, and Marketing to ensure alignment.
Tracking product performance and managing the full lifecycle, from launch through exit.
Leading product exits and promotional strategies in collaboration with Planning and Marketing.
Acting as a subject‑matter expert for your category and staying current with competitors.
Communicating category vision to internal teams to support marketing and sales plans.
Working from our Vancouver HQ 3 days per week in a hybrid environment.
Using G Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs, Meet, etc) and Slack for communication; you can use Mac or PC.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a Category Management role, ideally in eCommerce or furniture/home goods, including merchandising, buying, product, or related positions.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; you analyze best options before making decisions.
Fast, organized, and able to adapt easily when plans shift.
Good understanding of design/style and how it fits into Article product offerings.
Data‑driven decision‑making skills.
Collaborative, resilient, and professional behavior.
Legally able to work in Canada.
Completion of criminal background check.
