LOCATION This position is located in Toronto. Working from the Ottawa, Montreal or Vancouver office may be approved, depending on worksite availability.
OSFI’s work model includes telework and mandatory onsite presence. The terms of the employee’s telework arrangement will be established in accordance with the Directive on Telework and related organizational directions. These arrangements must be reviewed annually, at a minimum, and can be subject to change. PROCESS INTENT The immediate need is to staff 1 position with a language requirement of English essential on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic requirements and/or profiles, security requirements, tenures, and/or locations within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), which may vary according to the position being staffed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Specialist, Credit Risk Division, is part of team accountable for the supervision and regulation of the risk, and risk management practices, of federally regulated banks, including:
Conducting credit risk surveillance and analytics to identify emerging risk trends.
Delivering briefings and advice on risk mitigation programs to executive-level stakeholders.
Conducting examinations of bank lending activities and presenting compelling recommendations to senior officers. Contributing to the development and implementation of national and international standards pertaining to credit risk management.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in business, commerce, economics, finance, accounting or other relevant field. Information on degree equivalency ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Recent and significant (1*) experience in wholesale credit activities, involving corporate, institutional, or specialized lending, within the financial services industry (2*), including experience in one of the following:
Credit adjudication.
Transaction structuring.
Credit risk management function (such as, portfolio analytics, risk rating methodologies, policy development).
Assessment of credit risk management practices in an internal audit, quality assurance, or similar function

(1) Recent and significant is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of 3 years within approximately the last 5 years.
(2*) Financial services industry includes, banks, credit unions,
insurance companies, trust and loan companies, pension funds, rating agencies and credit bureaus and other relevant areas such as audit firms, consultant agencies, regulatory bodies, Indigenous insurance and lending institutions as well as pension plans. Knowledge of current and/or emerging wholesale credit related issues or trends.

Recent and significant (1*) experience in wholesale credit activities, involving corporate, institutional, or specialized lending, within the financial services industry (2*), including experience in two or more of the following: Credit adjudication.
Transaction structuring.
Credit risk management function (such as, portfolio analytics, risk rating methodologies, policy development).
Assessment of credit risk management practices in an internal audit, quality assurance, or similar function
Experience communicating results from quantitative and qualitative analysis, both verbally and in writing to a senior audience.
Experience leading complex or sensitive, multidisciplinary projects. NOTE

ASSET KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of IFRS 9 allowance for credit loss (ACL) methodologies and credit risk capital assessment, including stress testing techniques.
Knowledge of credit risk models and their application within lending activities.
Knowledge of commercial lending practices. OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Ability and willingness to work overtime.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally and/or domestically when required.
