Position Details
Job Title: Junior Application Consultant – Utilities
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
Location: Hybrid – Ideal location Toronto, ON or Vancouver, BC
Role Overview The Junior Application Consultant — Utilities specializes in implementing and supporting utility billing solutions for both the regulated and deregulated North American markets. This role requires deep domain knowledge of billing operations — including rate structures, metered and flat billing, arrears management, and multi-service accounts — combined with strong technical and customer-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities Gather requirements and configure utility billing modules for water, sewer, gas, and electric services.
Validate billing calculations, rate structures, and payment processing.
Support integrations with GIS, SCADA, AMI, metering solutions, payment processors, and financial GL systems.
Lead UAT cycles and go-live activities for billing system deployments.
Train municipal billing staff and create user documentation for SaaS onboarding.
Provide time-sensitive support during billing runs and payment deadlines; triage and escalate effectively.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of utility billing systems and municipal government operations to support compliant and efficient workflows.
Utilized SQL and data querying to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and generate actionable reports.
Contributed to ERP or Utility Billing systems implementation methodology, including requirements gathering, testing, integration, and post-go-live support.
Delivered effective customer-facing communication and training, improving user adoption and satisfaction.
Leveraged integration and API literacy to support system interoperability and data exchange across platforms.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and support acumen to resolve technical and functional issues in a timely manner.
Nice To Have Skills Applied domain knowledge to support accurate processes, compliance, and customer account management.
Led product requirements development by translating business needs into clear functional specifications and user stories.
Designed and delivered report development solutions to provide actionable insights and improve decision-making.
Utilized integration and API literacy to enable seamless system connectivity and data exchange.
Education And Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Finance.
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in accounting and/or
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in technical/programming field.
