Part-Time Facility Attendant
Mayfield Sportsplex
Mayfield Sportsplex is seeking reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Part-Time Facility Attendants to join our operations team. Facility Attendants will work closely with the Facility Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the facility and ensure a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment for players, families, teams, and community users.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining the facility, assisting with field and user-group transitions, completing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, and ensuring the facility is operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility, including washrooms, change rooms, common areas, and other designated spaces.
- Regularly inspect and maintain indoor and outdoor areas to ensure they are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Collect garbage and debris from playing areas and surrounding spaces and empty garbage and recycling bins as required.
- Assist with the setup, preparation, and transition of fields and facility areas for scheduled teams, programs, rentals, tournaments, and other user groups.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the facility, particularly during peak operating periods.
- Monitor facility use and help ensure users follow facility rules, policies, and safety procedures.
- Inspect sports equipment and field infrastructure, including nets, goals, barriers, and other equipment, and complete minor repairs or adjustments when required.
- Perform light maintenance and general upkeep throughout the facility.
- Identify and report safety concerns, damage, equipment issues, or other maintenance requirements to the Facility Manager or appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with seasonal facility maintenance and preparation,
including tasks related to changing weather conditions and programming requirements.
- Support facility opening and closing procedures when required.
- Use cleaning products, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly and follow all applicable health and safety procedures.
- Provide courteous and professional assistance to facility users and respond appropriately to general questions or concerns.
- Perform other related facility and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Physically capable of performing general facility duties, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and moving equipment.
- Comfortable working in a busy sports and recreation environment.
- Previous experience in a sports facility, recreation facility, building operations, maintenance, or a similar environment is an asset.
- Interest in and knowledge of sports is considered an asset.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check may be required depending on assigned duties.
Hours & Compensation
- Job Type: Part-Time
- Hours: Approximately 15–30 hours per week
- Rate of Pay: Starting at $17.60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Flexible availability is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Additional hours may be available based on facility programming, rentals, tournaments, and operational requirements.
