The Opportunity

We’re looking to fill a Financial Analyst position at RFA Bank of Canada !

Reporting to the Controller the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the period end close process, as well as daily accounting and reconciliations, analytics on variances, accruals, and preparation of audit supporting schedules. This role has daily responsibilities and requires an individual that thrives in a rapid paced and dynamic department.

Responsibilities

As the Financial Analyst , you will:

Be responsible for booking daily journal entries for multiple entities.

Prepare month-end accrual entries and journal entries for period close.

Perform reasonability analysis on trending journal entries to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Investigate various transactions as part of variance analysis and reconciliations, coordinating with other internal and external groups, draw conclusions and propose adjusting entries if required.

Leverage available data through the enhancement and development of analytical reports to support monthly reporting.





Wire requests to Treasury department to support funding and other transfer requirement.

Contribute to an accurate and timely month end close free of material misstatements.

Provide back-up to other Finance team members for reconciliation and journal entry postings.

Increase operational efficiency by reviewing and recommending improvement to existing procedures and processes, and leveraging technology.

Provide general day-to-day accounting/reconciliation support and assist with any other ad-hoc tasks or special projects, as may be required from time to time.

Financial Reporting and Governance

Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

Ad hoc reporting for senior management.

In conjunction with the Controller assist in maintaining a strong control environment and good governance practices.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting

At least 1-2 years of experience in a finance role

A CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation is an asset

Previous experience working in financial services is considered an asset

Hybrid working conditions during regular business hours

Occasional overtime around reporting periods

What Sets You Apart

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)





Knowledge of NetSuite is an asset

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required

Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
