Who you are

- Due to Government of Canada regulatory requirements, this position requires the successful completion of a Government of Canada Reliability Status screening as a condition of employment
- The screening process requires 5 years of verifiable background history. This includes identity verification, education verification, a criminal record check, and a credit check

- Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Reliability Status, which generally requires Canadian citizenship or Canadian permanent resident status. Employment is contingent upon successful completion and maintenance of the required screening

- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry

- 8 years of related experience in a systems engineering, cloud or infrastructure automation role with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience

- Software-defined systems background, having experience writing code to automate and provision infrastructure in a language such as Python, Go or Java
- A learning mindset, with motivation to learn a diverse set of skillsets and bring real improvement to both our internal and external customers

- Technical competencies are some of the below. Not all are mandatory, and we’d love to hear from you if you have experience in a couple of the below:

- Cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

- Infra as code (Terraform, cloud formation or similar)

- Kubernetes administration and development

- Infrastructure management (e.g some but not all of Linux,



networking, virtualization, DNS)

What the job involves

- The systems we build run on a variety of cloud providers, and we have a high focus on automated, code-defined solutions

- You will get the opportunity to work in all the major public clouds, implementing solutions via code, while also gaining understanding of underlying infrastructure technologies such as DNS, LDAP, Linux, messaging systems among a few

- You will be part of a newly formed team that forms part of a great wider organization that puts a high priority on personal growth and offers great perks
- In the team, you will get the opportunity to:

- Be the primary team to build and manage our Canadian based sovereign cloud running on Google Cloud as well as contribute to our other globally distributed clouds

- Manage enterprise infrastructure at scale with code utilising Terraform & Crossplane on public cloud (Azure, AWS & Google Cloud) as we rapidly expand our offerings around the globe

- Develop and onboard new services into our environment utilising languages such as Go and Python, and automation tools such as Puppet and Ansible

- Define unique solutions which have a real impact on our customers and meet their functional and security needs

- Work on our next generation of software offerings such as Kubernetes as we aim to have our entire environment be fully code defined

- Research and implement current open-source and commercial tools, technologies and methodologies

- Collaborate with our peer teams such as SRE, networking and System Administrators to ensure stability of our environment
