Join St. Boniface Hospital as a Lab Animal Technician to ensure the health of research animals. This role includes husbandry and technical support for diverse species.
As part of a dedicated team, the Lab Animal Technician is responsible for animal health and welfare per established SOPs. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, possess a Veterinary Technician diploma or B.Sc., and be comfortable in a team-oriented environment. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide primary care and husbandry for lab animals
• Assist in technical procedures and deliver anesthesia
• Collaborate with faculty and research personnel
• Maintain adherence to health and welfare standards
• Ensure accurate documentation of animal care
Requirements:
• Veterinary Technician diploma or equivalent education
• CALAS RLAT certification is desired
• Prior experience with GLP preferred
• Capability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Robust observation and communication skills
