Structural Steel Project Manager / Estimator
Location: Georgetown, Ontario

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Structural Steel Project Manager/Estimator to join our growing team. This role combines project management, estimating, procurement, and field coordination within a fast‑paced structural steel fabrication and installation environment. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, comfortable working both in the office and on job sites, and capable of collaborating with multiple departments including production, drafting, and shop fabrication.
While experience in structural steel estimating, project management, and field measurement is an asset, it is not a requirement . We welcome applications from recent graduates who are ready to build a career in the steel construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating
- Prepare detailed structural steel estimates based on drawings, specifications, and site information
- Review architectural, structural, and engineering plans to determine scope and material requirements
- Assist in preparing bid packages, proposals, and cost breakdowns
- Maintain accurate estimating records and databases
Project Management
- Oversee awarded projects from start to finish, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, installation crew and internal teams
- Track project progress, changes, and deliverables
- Prepare and manage project documentation, schedules, and reports
Field Work & Installation Support
- Conduct job site visits for measurements, verification, and progress checks
- Work with installation crews to ensure proper sequencing and execution
- Identify site conditions that may impact fabrication or installation
Procurement & Cost Control
- Source and purchase materials, subcontracted services, and equipment (if applicable)
- Monitor project costs and assist with cost‑tracking and forecasting
- Work closely with the production office and fabrication shop to ensure material availability and workflow efficiency
Internal Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with drafting/detailing teams, shop supervisors, and production staff
- Support coordination between fabrication and field installation
- Participate in internal project meetings and planning sessions
Qualifications
Required:
- College or University diploma/degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings (training provided for junior candidates)
- Willingness to perform job site visits and field measurements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Assets (not required):
- Experience in structural steel estimating or project management
- Familiarity with fabrication processes, erection sequencing, or construction site operations
- Knowledge of industry software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla, or estimating tools)
