STUDENT LIFE AND HOMESTAY AIDE Start date: September 8, 2026 Position Title: Student Life and Homestay Aide Department: International Student Program (ISP) Reports To: Director of the International Student Program Location: Administration Office Hours: 3.5 hours a day; regular, permanent 10-month school year position Salary Range: $29.63 - $33.32 per hour depending on qualifications Language Requirement: English (ability to speak an additional language would be an asset) Reviewed: Revised August 2026 Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Director of the International Student Program, the Student Life and Homestay Aide will assist others in the department in supporting the international students as they navigate their Canadian life experience in Winnipeg.

Key Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Collaborates with the ISP Homestay Team and the Student Life and Relations Facilitator to resolve situations which involve the safety and well-being of the students.

Responds to known and emerging needs of ISP students, assisting to guide them to fulfill curricular and extra-curricular interests.

Assists ISP students to secure mental and physical health care and support.





Assists the Student Life and Relations Facilitator with communication with coaches and teams to facilitate logistics as they relate to student participation and support.

Assists with the tracking and communicates students’ progress and participation to the Student Life and Relations Facilitator and ISP partners.

Assists the Homestay Team and Student Life and Relations Facilitator to facilitate orientation for the Homestay students in February.

Assists the Student Life and Relations Facilitator to successfully execute activities and events.

Assists with driving students to events, appointments or other situations when necessary.

Contributes to the Management of the ISP Homepage including updating student testimonials, loading student promotional videos, adding announcements and student noteworthy stories.

Contributes to the ISP social media platforms with posts and meaningful innovative ideas to engage students.

Contributes to the preparation of student promotional videos and materials.

Supports the Homestay Team in managing student issues.

Supports the international students by meeting and consulting with students on a regular basis, sharing and reporting student information relating to specific issues or concerns to the Homestay Facilitator, the Student Life and Relations Facilitator and the Director.





Performs other duties as may be assigned or requested to support the efficient operation of the Department.

Skills And Qualifications Skill and Knowledge – Required: Post-secondary education in counselling, conflict resolution or interculturalism and one year or more of direct experience working with youth in a cross-cultural setting or equivalent combination of skills and experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and social media.

Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity.

Solid organizational and time management skills, with ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize.

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with confidential information.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create posts and post on social media platforms.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and act resourcefully in varying situations.

Code of Conduct Working Conditions & Physical Demands Requires the ability to work a variable schedule (irregular work days, evenings and weekends, as well as the ability to respond to urgent situations on short notice).

Must hold a valid Manitoba driver’s license, a clear driving record and access to a personal vehicle.
