Job Description
Full‑time, tenure‑track appointment for Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Mining Engineering (Geostatistics) within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta.

Location
In‑person at North Campus, Edmonton.

Cluster Vision
Five complementary positions in Geotechnical, Environmental, Water Resources, Mining and Geoenvironmental Engineering designed to foster interdisciplinary research and teaching in climate‑resilient infrastructure, sustainable mining, water quality, and integrated earth system analysis.

Position Description
Candidate must possess expertise in geostatistics, orebody modelling, uncertainty quantification, spatial modelling or data science, and demonstrate the ability to work across disciplinary boundaries. The appointment contributes to the growth of the Centre for Computational Geostatistics (CCG) and is expected to develop externally funded, collaborative research programs with the Geotechnical Centre, Water Research Centre (WRC) and industrial partners.

Responsibilities

Teaching (40%): Design and deliver courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate research, and provide academic mentorship. Licensure as a Qualified Engineer or equivalent in Alberta is required for courses involving engineering design.

Research (40%): Conduct original research, secure external funding, and disseminate findings through publications, conferences, and other scholarly activities.

Service (20%): Participate in departmental, faculty, and university governance, contribute to public outreach, and support the broader research community.





Qualifications
• Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline by the appointment start date.
• Established record or exceptional potential for excellence in research and teaching, including a trajectory of impactful scholarly contributions.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching and effective mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain externally funded research programs.
