Job Summary: The Supervisor of the locating division is responsible for planning and managing locating projects, maintaining and improving operations, proposal writing, leading the team to success and building relationships with current and potential clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Project Supervision & Workflow Planning
Plan and manage the entire lifecycle of field locating projects, including the allocation of resources, scheduling, documentation, budget and other factors necessary for project success. Plan project timelines and workflow and oversee the day-to-day activities of direct reports to ensure work is conducted accurately, on time and to a satisfactory standard.
· Operations
Manage current operations including equipment / truck rentals, locating methods and procedures and other operational duties. Develop and implement recent business strategies to create or improve processes and procedures to improve operational performance. Provide direction for new initiatives to improve the safety of work sites and the efficiency, accuracy and quality of the work produced.
· Proposal Writing
Study requests for proposals (RFPs), develop proposals by assembling information including project nature, deliverables, implementation, methods, timelines, staffing, budget, standards of performance, evaluation, costing, etc. and submit proposals.
· Leadership
Provide guidance, support and training to direct reports, monitor their performance on an on-going basis, conduct performance reviews, discipline as required and resolve team conflicts.
· Client Communication
Interact and build relationships with current and potential customers to secure work, answer inquiries, analyze and resolve concerns, and / or provide them with project updates and other information as required.
· Administration
Review and approve invoices, timesheets, health & safety sign-offs and ensure that all other required documentation is completed.
· Projects & Assignments
Takes on special projects, assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
· A minimum of 7-10 years of supervisor experience in a comparable utility locating environment is required.
· Comprehensive understanding of theory, limitations and use of pipeline and utility locating equipment.
· General understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, standards, construction methods, and standards.
· General understanding of locating computations and the derivation of coordinates in various coordinate systems.
· Working and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Excel and Word) is required. Knowledge of project management software is an asset.
· Must have the ability to visit job sites and work in close proximity to heavy equipment, other trades and contractors, noise, welding and other general construction activities.
· Valid driver’s license and availability to travel to job sites, as required.
· Must have flexible schedule and be available on weekends, as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
