Job Summary
Mechanical Designer focusing on CAD of cryogenic dilution refrigerator setups, assemblies of 3D resonator cavities, and structural and thermal analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Develop CAD models of 3D cavities, ensuring mechanical precision and compatibility with cryogenic environments; create technical drawings for fabrication.
Explore mechanical elements of designs and manufacturing techniques in cavity designs to improve assembly repeatability.
Conduct structural and thermal analysis of the cryogenic setup to support payload and thermal performance, analytically and with FEA simulations.
Design and document the cryogenic setups for dilution refrigerator systems.
Maintain and organize CAD libraries, revision control, and documentation to support long‑term system scaling and reproducibility.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Design,
Quantum Hardware, and Nanofabrication) to iterate on designs.
Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and development partners for machining, sourcing, and integration activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum 2 years of mechanical design experience.
Industry experience with interdisciplinary R&D; teams.
Required Expertise and Knowledge
CAD modeling and assembly design for precision mechanical systems using SolidWorks, Onshape, or other advanced CAD software.
Optimization of designs for repeatability required for scaling.
Experience with revision control and documentation of CAD.
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.
Ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.
Experience with stress and thermal analysis using FE (finite element).
