Job Overview
This is a full‑time, permanent position for the Payroll Specialist within Magna’s corporate payroll team.

Job Responsibilities
The Payroll Specialist will handle the full cycle processing of assigned Canada and US payrolls, including year‑end activities, 3rd‑party remittances, garnishment setup, and payroll journal entries.

Prepare and process assigned Canada and US payroll(s) on a weekly and bi‑weekly basis for hourly and salaried employees, including garnishment, incentive payouts, deferred incentives, stock options, hypo tax, shadow payroll reporting, and pension payrolls.

Balance payrolls based on year‑end calendars and participate in audit of other payrolls as assigned.

Initial garnishment set‑up.

Prepare and reconcile 3rd‑party remittances according to due dates.

Maintain accurate payroll records.

Complete year‑end balancing, filing and delivery of T4s and/or W2s; amend year‑end tax forms as required.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Finance, Operations and statutory reporting.

Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll general ledger accounts.

Maintain division notes and processing instructions (run books).

General Responsibilities

Provide responsive support to employee inquiries, ensuring satisfaction.

Participate in payroll system implementations, defining requirements, preparing test plans, and documenting test results.

Document and maintain processing instructions and checklists for payroll processing.

Exhibit strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy.





Show strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

3 to 5 years of experience processing large‑scale US and Canada payroll (2500+ employees).

Experience with expatriate/commuter payroll is an asset.

Active PCP or FPC designation, or willingness to obtain the designation.

Advanced Excel skills for reporting, metrics and data validation.

Strong planning and organizational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality.

Excellent attention to detail and a track record of delivering high‑quality results.

Compensation
Salary starting at $60,000 per year.
