We’re hiring: Systems Testing/QA Specialist – Intermediate

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Work arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days onsite at Metro Hall

Contract: Approximately 6 months, with a potential 6-month extension

Schedule: 35 hours per week

Rate: Up to C$60/hour, independent contractor A Toronto municipal public-sector organization is seeking an Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist to support comprehensive testing across large-scale on-premise, web, cloud-integrated, and mobile applications.

Key responsibilities

- Develop test scenarios, test cases, scripts, and test data from business requirements and user stories
- Execute functional, integration, regression, system, mobile, API, performance, usability, and user acceptance testing
- Manage test cycles, analyze results, document discrepancies, and oversee defects through closure
- Maintain test and defect records using tools such as OpenText ALM, OpenText Octane, JIRA, Xray, and Confluence
- Develop or maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, UFT, TOSCA, Cucumber, Serenity, or similar tools
- Collaborate with QA leads, business analysts, developers, and project stakeholders
- Contribute to test planning, QA reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required qualifications

- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on testing experience supporting large-scale applications
- Experience testing on-premise systems, web applications, cloud-based integrations, and mobile platforms
- Strong functional, integration, regression, and UAT experience




- Full test-cycle and defect-lifecycle management experience
- Solid understanding of the SDLC
- Experience working in Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, and hybrid environments
- Ability to work onsite in downtown Toronto 3 days per week
- Authorization to work in Canada under the required independent-contractor arrangement

Preferred qualifications

- Test automation experience with Selenium, UFT, TOSCA, Cucumber, or Serenity
- API, performance, mobile, accessibility, or AODA testing experience
- Experience testing AI-based solutions, ServiceNow, Salesforce, SAP, or comparable platforms
- Previous Canadian public-sector or municipal experience
- Software Quality Engineering certification or equivalent
