Position Overview: Paragon is looking for highly motivated individuals for Tactical Security Guard positions in the Toronto area. The hours for these position require you to be available for all shifts, days, afternoons, nights and rotational. There is no parking available on site.

- Position: Full Time, Permanent – Tactical Security and Patrol Guard
- Location: Toronto Downtown
- Schedule: 12 hours Continental Days OR Nights Schedule
- Hours: 36 to 48 hours per week or 84 hours biweekly
- Payrate: $18.50/HR starting

Role & Responsibilities:

- Understanding the needs of the student residents and being able to build relationships with the residents in the community.
- Help develop a healthy environment in which students have concern and respect for the rights of others
- Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols to build relationships with students, address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
- Ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire and paramedic resources.
- Be able to facilitate an environment that allows students to meet their academic goals.




- Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner so as not to create panic among the college staff and students.
- Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act.
- Screening unauthorized persons and physically removing unauthorized personnel found trespassing or engaging in criminal acts or breaching the policies. Legally arrest individual and surrender same to Police as soon as possible.
- Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all students, college staff and clients on the property
- Respond to all emergency response needs such as providing first aid, missing persons, etc.
- Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly.
- Monitor CCTV surveillance systems
- Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with
- Obtain statements and collect information for Incident
- Logging in/out of Key, Radio, and pager audits
- Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
- Report any unsafe working conditions in any/all departments

Minimum Requirements:

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Minimum 1 year of security Guard experience required
- Physical Demands: Standing and Patrolling for long duration, standing for 8 to 12 hours,



exposed to all weather conditions and extreme temperatures
- Be able to keep an open and objective mind, remembering that residents and staff have a diverse background
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must demonstrate high attention to detail/ observational awareness
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
