Eascan Automation Inc. — Technical Integrator — Welding Automation
Winnipeg, MB | Full-time | $70,000–$110,000 | Some travel | Senior only
At Eascan, every robotic welding project is different. One week you're developing a new welding cell for a manufacturer, the next you're modernizing an existing production line or helping solve a process that has frustrated a customer for years.
We're looking for someone who can lead those projects from the first conversation through final commissioning. You'll work closely with customers, engineering, and the shop to design practical solutions, integrate robotic systems, and ensure they perform reliably once they're in production.
This is a senior technical role for someone who enjoys solving difficult automation challenges, mentoring other integrators, and being directly involved in both the technical and customer sides of a project.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead the development and integration of robotic welding systems from concept through production.
- Program, commission, optimize, and troubleshoot industrial robots across multiple platforms, including FANUC, Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA, and others.
- Configure and optimize robotic welding processes for quality, consistency, to meet cycle times and other specifications.
- Integrate welding equipment, tooling, safety systems, and supporting automation into complete production cells.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and machine safety systems.
- Support machine retrofit and automation projects outside of welding when required.
- Work with customers to understand manufacturing challenges and recommend practical automation solutions.
- Participate in system design, equipment selection, estimating, and technical proposals.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and software teams throughout the project.
- Lead commissioning, production startup, and customer training.
- Provide technical support during startup and help customers achieve reliable long-term performance.
- Improve robot programs, welding quality, cycle times, and system reliability.
- Help establish programming standards and integration best practices.
- Mentor junior robotics integrators and share technical knowledge across the team.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary education in a related technical field, such as robotics, welding, or mechanical or electrical engineering technology.
- Five or more years integrating robotic automation, with real arc welding cells behind you.
- Deep hands-on time with industrial robots, and comfort moving between manufacturers.
- Experience with the common welding power sources.
- PLC programming.
- The instinct to find the actual problem, and the manner to explain it to a customer.
- Willingness to travel for installations and support.
NICE TO HAVE
- A weld engineering background.
- Fixture and workholding design.
- Mentoring or leading a small technical team.
THE OFFER
- Competitive Salary — Paid to the market for the trade and the experience you bring, and reviewed as you grow.
- $2,500 Health Spending Account /year — Yours to spend on what your family actually needs, on top of the benefits plan.
- Health Benefits Plan + Vision and Dental — Full plan including vision and dental, with premiums shared evenly between you and Eascan.
- RPSP/DPSP 4% Match — Eascan matches the amount you want to contribute, up to four percent of your earnings, toward your retirement.
- Training & Learning Sponsored by Eascan — Tickets, certifications, and manufacturer training on new equipment, covered by the company.
- OT & 2×OT, on-call, weekends, holidays — Overtime and double overtime when the call comes in. If you give up your Saturday, you are paid for it.
- Work from Home, hybrid arrangements — Flexibility to work from home on a hybrid schedule, where the role allows for it.
- Monthly phone allowance — Reimbursed every month toward your phone bill, so work calls are not coming out of your pocket.
- Paid Time Off + extra personal days — Vacation and paid personal days, and unpaid personal days as necessary (we know, life happens!)
- Optional Extended health care — Additional coverage available on top of the plan if you want it for you or your family.
- On-site Parking — Park at the door on Wall Street. No lot hunting, no monthly pass, no winter walk.
- Health and Wellness Support — Online Support for you and your family: counselling and 24/7 crisis support, a licensed physician on video any hour, second opinions, legal and financial advice, and a pharmacy that delivers.
FLEXIBILITY Start early, start late, bank time and take it back. Appointments, school pickups, a long weekend that actually starts on Friday. The deal is straightforward:
we expect excellence in the work, we expect the work to be done awesomely and timely, and we expect you to enjoy your life to the fullest while being a great skilled. Flexibility is the first thing our team mentions when you ask what they like about working here.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will meet the manager of the department you are applying to, and the CEO. That is who decides, so that is who you talk to.
- Step one: A Teams call. One conversation to get to know each other. No panel, no take-home assignment.
- Step two: A visit to the shop. Come see the floor, the machines, and the people. It is as much your call as ours.
- Step three, sometimes: One last chat, then a Job Offer. Only when we have several strong people at once and need a closer look. Then, the results.
HIRING AT HOME This role is based at our shop on Wall Street in Winnipeg. We are putting our hiring into Manitoba, into the local trades and the local economy, and we are proud of that.
Immigrants with a valid work permit or permanent residency are very welcome to apply. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time. So if you are not legally entitled to work in Canada, or are not here and not willing to relocate, this may not be the right moment for us.
