Project Name

Alberta Education and Childcare is currently in the process of redeveloping the provincial curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 12. This involves moving provincial curriculum from a print-based production and delivery process to a digital format. This initiative includes, but is not limited to the following:

the redesign of standards, guidelines, and processes for the development of future curriculum that are competency-focused and student-centered.

support working collaboratively with school authorities, business, industry, and communities to improve educational outcomes for students.

As part of the curriculum redesign, the Curriculum, Career Education and Assessment Division is developing the new LearnAlberta (http://new.LearnAlberta.ca) to support the work of staff and learning partners in the design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of provincial curriculum for K-12 in English and French. Curriculum includes programs of study, assessment, and learning and teaching resources.

It is envisioned that the current LearnAlberta will enable learning and teaching resources to be accessed and utilized in innovative, efficient, and purposeful ways. This system’s ability to aggregate components will increase the variety of learning experiences that are available to Alberta students. The role of the Contractor’s Resource under any resulting Contract will involve providing technical project management Services, acting as the technical project manager on an inflight agile, cloud software development project as well as several projects within the Digital Content Management and Delivery branch of the Curriculum, Career Education and Assessment Division.





The technical project managers lead the planning and delivery of technical initiatives, with accountability for managing risks, dependencies, timelines, and cross-project coordination. The branch retains overall ownership of the project, including governance, funding oversight, scope control, and alignment with business objectives. 1.

Services Provide Project

Management services for the development, implementation, and support of new LearnAlberta.ca and related applications.

Provide program support and project management within the branch as required.

Provide technical leadership to the project team.

Manage and lead multiple projects and teams concurrently.

Provide architectural guidance for both cloud and non-cloud-based solutions.

Assign work, monitor progress, and provide project management direction to branch staff and consultants, aligning with department goals, strategies, and standards, and subject to branch oversight.

Escalate issues and risks promptly and appropriately.

Deliver weekly status reports to the Director and Senior Manager of the Digital Content Management and Delivery branch, providing updates on project status, task reviews, and associated timelines.

Lead or assist in the development of business cases and other technical documents as needed.

Collaborate with clients to gather project requirements, as necessary.

Report on projects and manage them using industry-standard project management practices and tools.

Identify, assess, mitigate, and communicate project risks effectively.

Use AI‑assisted tools, where appropriate and as approved by the Province, to enhance project management effectiveness,



with all project management decisions and outcomes validated by the technical project manager.

Mandatory

Qualifications:(Must have Minimum 7 years of all of the following) THIS IS A WRITTEN MATRIX/STATEMENT OF WORK APPLICATION University degree or two-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution and seven (7) years of experience on web-based software development projects.

OR

One-year certificate in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution and nine (9) years of experience on web-based software development projects.

A minimum of seven (7) years directly project managing agile web-software development project(s).

Experience managing web software development projects, including agile delivery leadership, backlog management, stakeholder coordination, sprint planning, and team delivery.

Experience managing web software development projects on cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) including release governance, environment management, CI/CD processes, and deployment coordination

Resource’s experience and familiarity using project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Smartsheet or equivalent.

Experience managing web software development projects involving multiple integrated components, authentication/identity services, external system integrations, content management functionality, and large-scale access by public users.

Experience managing project governance, executive reporting, stakeholder communication, and decision-making processes across multiple projects

Experience in risk management and mitigation within web software development projects, including risk identification, assessment, tracking, and implementation of mitigation strategies

Estimated Start Date: OCT 2026

Estimated End Date: OCT 2027

Possible Extension:12 months Rate Range: $108 - $130/hr
