About Concrete BC For more than 60 years, Concrete BC has represented British Columbia's ready-mix and volumetric concrete industry. Our membership includes 61 producer members operating at more than 110 plant locations, with a fleet of more than 1,150 mixer and mobile mixer trucks, as well as more than 100 supplier members.

The Opportunity

Concrete BC is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Technical Services Manager to provide technical leadership, support members, oversee education and certification programs, and promote concrete throughout the construction industry. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role combines technical expertise, program management, training delivery and industry representation.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership and Member Support

· Provide timely technical guidance to members and industry stakeholders on concrete materials, applications, codes, standards and construction practices.

· Monitor industry trends, research, codes and standards, and translate technical developments into practical information for members.

· Develop, improve and expand the Association's technical and promotional resources, including website, digital and print content.

· Oversee comparative concrete testing programs and ensure accurate, useful reporting.

Education and Certification

· Develop and deliver engaging education on concrete technology, design and construction for varied technical and non-technical audiences.

· Advise on current offerings, amend as necessary,



explore new opportunities and delivery methods to meet the needs of members and the industry.

· Oversee education courses and certification programs; assess program effectiveness and identify new topics and delivery formats.

· Lead the Association's concrete plant and mobile mixer certification programs, ensuring technical requirements and records are maintained.

· Coordinate and promote concrete certification programs with the British Columbia chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

· Organize and deliver seminars across British Columbia, including occasional overnight travel.

Industry and Association Engagement

· Advise and directly support Concrete BC's Technical, Pump and Safety Committees.

· Build productive relationships with members, industry partners, governments and educational institutions to advance the use of concrete.

· Represent Concrete BC at industry events, conferences and technical committees, and in meetings with municipal and provincial government representatives.

· Contribute to strategic initiatives and support key Association events, including the Annual Convention, Annual General Meeting and Golf Tournament.

Qualifications Required

· At least five years of relevant experience in the concrete industry, including technical services, education, certification or a closely related area.

· Strong knowledge of concrete materials, properties and applications, together with a practical understanding of the construction industry.





· Knowledge of applicable CSA concrete standards and experience interpreting technical standards, codes and design criteria.

· Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training or technical presentations.

· Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information to varied audiences.

· Strong organization and judgment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.

· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related business software.

· A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel regularly throughout British Columbia.

Preferred

· A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.

· Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

Working Conditions

· Hybrid work arrangement based from Concrete BC's downtown Vancouver office.

· Approximately 15%-40% travel throughout British Columbia, depending on program and event schedules, including occasional overnight travel.

· Occasional lifting and carrying of training or event materials weighing 10-50 lb (4.5-23 kg). Accommodation is available in accordance with applicable law.
