Theatre FOH Staff

Reports To: Manager, Theatre Front of House Operations

Mission: To create an environment that inspires a passion for student success.

Desired Results of the Position:

- A welcoming and inclusive front of house experience for students, guests, and clients of the Algonquin Commons Theatre and all its related venues.
- An organized and balanced work environment which allows staff to respond to the changing wants and needs of its customers and clients.
- A harmonious Theatre and Venues Operations department, where the team members feel energized, motivated, and supported to contribute to the student, guest, and client experience.

Nature and Scope A Theatre Front of House (FOH) staff member ensures quality customer service for the audience before, during, and after a performance at the Algonquin Commons Theatre (ACT) and for all Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) operations. They may work a variety of positions including usher, coat check, and merch. As an ambassador for the SA, a Theatre FOH staff member, will be polite, personable, outgoing, and able to work as part of a team.

A Theatre FOH staff member will need to always ensure a high level of customer service, and their responsibilities will focus on the day-to-day delivery of skilled and reliable customer experiences. This will include, but is not limited to,



building relationships with customers to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction, working alongside Theatre staff to ensure customer expectations are satisfied.

Job Duties

- Ensure that patrons are treated courteously, professionally, and efficiently.
- Ensure tasks/duties are completed accurately, efficiently and co-operatively within the guidelines set by the Algonquin Commons Theatre.
- Ensure the safe keeping of patrons.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Theatre.
- Adhere to all regulations regarding health & safety and liquor control licensing.
- Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a front of house or service industry setting.
- Excellent customer service skills & strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
- Ability to perform while remaining on your feet for long periods of time.
- Availability to work non-traditional shifts, focusing on evenings and weekends
- Minimum 17 years of age.
- Bilingualism (English & French) will be considered an asset.
- Smart Serve will be considered an asset
