Role Overview: The Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment to ensure operational profitability and safety.
This role involves managing a dedicated maintenance shop, controlling costs, and leading a team of technicians to maintain high vehicle reliability and training standards.
Shift: Afternoon (Monday Friday, 2:00 PM 10:30 PM) Key Responsibilities: Fleet Operations: Ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and available to meet daily operational requirements through regular evaluations.
Team Leadership: Directly supervise seven front-line employees, including 310T Technicians, Apprentices, and Welders.
Personnel Management: Oversee staffing needs, including recruitment, coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
Asset & Budget Management: Manage the effective utilization of vehicle assets and assist in the capital equipment requisition and budgeting processes.
Systems & Compliance: Utilize vehicle management systems effectively and ensure all operations adhere to strict safety and environmental regulations.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the maintenance shops through rigorous inspection and preventive maintenance programs.
Employee Development: Foster a positive, team-oriented environment through qualified training,
motivation, and career development initiatives.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair standards.
Proficiency in using computerized vehicle management and maintenance tracking systems.
Experience with fleet evaluation and preventive maintenance program implementation. 310T (Truck and Coach) license is considered a significant asset.
Functional & Leadership Skills: 5+ years of leadership experience, specifically managing a team of technicians or mechanics.
Proven ability to manage shop operations, including staffing, scheduling, and parts inventory.
Experience navigating and managing labor relations within a unionized environment.
Financial acumen related to maintenance budgeting and cost control.
Behavioral Skills: Safety Leadership: A commitment to ''Mission to Zero '' standards and maintaining a high-safety culture.
Effective Coaching: Ability to motivate, counsel, and develop a diverse technical team.
Professional Communication: Skilled in delivering technical presentations and training in a professional manner.
Education & Experience: Bachelor''s Degree OR a High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant experience.
Must possess a Valid Driver''s License.
