Role Overview: The Plant Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities and staff for a state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility (MRF).

This role is responsible for ensuring equipment efficiency, safety compliance, and the implementation of robust maintenance programs to support high-volume recycling operations.

Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Lead, schedule, and train a team of maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

Operational Oversight: Oversee the repair and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic equipment to ensure minimal downtime.

Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Financial & Administrative Management: Manage departmental planning, budgeting, staffing, and parts inventory.

Technical Support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support the startup and commissioning of new facility equipment.

Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized upgrades and complex repairs.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to Corporate, OHSA, and environmental regulatory requirements.

Data Integrity: Maintain accurate maintenance records and facility data within the CMMS.





Technical Skills: Expertise in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Specific experience with conveyors, screens, and optical sorters.

Proficiency in utilizing CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Ability to manage complex predictive and preventive maintenance schedules.

Functional & Leadership Skills: 7+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Proven ability in budget management, resource planning, and discipline implementation.

Experience working within a unionized workplace.

Strong project management skills related to equipment commissioning and facility startups.

Behavioral Skills: Safety-First Mindset: Unwavering commitment to OHSA standards and workplace safety.

Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for technical and operational challenges.

Leadership: Ability to mentor staff and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Education & Certifications: Bachelor''s Degree or equivalent (High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of additional experience).

Red Seal, Millwright, or a similar trade certification is highly preferred.
